Georgian PM highlights role of Intelligence Service in ensuring country’s security on professional day

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday congratulated professionals of the Georgian Intelligence Service on their professional day, and highlighted their role in ensuring the security of the country.

In his speech at the event dedicated to the professional day, Kobakhidze extended his gratitude to them for their “loyal service, patriotism and professionalism”.

“The intelligence service has been established as an institution of the highest international standards, the role of which is special in [ensuring] the security of our homeland. Each of you is faithfully serving the mission of being the first to gain information about threats and challenges and to help the Government take the correct policy decisions in the security sector”, Kobakhidze said.

“In today's rapidly changing environment, when Georgia’s historical [Abkhazia and South Ossetia] regions are still occupied, when a large-scale war is going on in the heart of Europe, tensions are increasing in the Middle East and our centuries-old national values ​​are under threat, it is critically important for the Georgian state to ensure peace and, at the same time, sustainable, long-term democratic and economic development of the country, safety and welfare of our citizens. The dream of each of us is to unite Georgia and become a honourable member of the European family”, he concluded.
