Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Central Election Commission, on Saturday called on individuals alleging the 2024 parliamentary election fraud to provide “tangible evidence”, if any, to the investigative body.
In an interview with Imedi TV, Kalandarishvili expressed confidence in the interim findings of the Prosecutor's Office, which had so far dismissed claims of manipulation during the election day.
“If anyone really has any tangible facts and evidence, they should submit it to the Prosecutor's Office and cooperate with the investigative body. Almost three months have passed since the vote and we initially ruled out that any manipulation had taken place, the Prosecutor's Office also confirmed this, and this [manipulation] is not evident from the OSCE/ODIHR report. We do not expect anything different from what is in the Prosecutor's Office's interim report, however, I call on all the authors of allegations to submit anything tangible to the investigative body if they have any”, Kalandarishvili said.
The General Prosecutor’s Office last week published the interim findings, revealing that most witnesses could not substantiate their allegations of election fraud.
Some witnesses reportedly admitted that their claims were made as a preventive measure rather than based on evidence.
