Georgian, Chinese Presidents mark diplomatic anniversary by upgrading ties

Bilateral relations between China and Georgia were elevated to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili exchanged congratulatory messages on the 34th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Chinese President noted that over the past 34 years, China and Georgia had consistently adhered to the principles of mutual respect, mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation, promoting the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations and achieving fruitful results across various areas of cooperation.
According to Xi, political mutual trust has deepened further since the establishment of a strategic partnership between China and Georgia in 2023, while pragmatic cooperation and multilateral engagement have continued to expand.
“Regardless of changes in the international landscape, China has always viewed its relations with Georgia from a strategic and long-term perspective. I would like to take this opportunity, together with President Mikheil Kavelashvili, to announce that China-Georgia relations will be elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership. I believe this will open new prospects for the development of bilateral relations, write a new chapter in the traditional friendship between our two countries, inject strong momentum into mutually beneficial cooperation and bring greater benefits to our peoples”, Xi said.
Kavelashvili said that over the past three decades, Georgia and China had built a longstanding friendship and that bilateral relations had made significant progress based on mutual respect, mutual trust and constructive cooperation.
“On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries, we have jointly decided to elevate Georgia-China relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership”, Georgian President said.
“I believe this will create greater opportunities for cooperation, bring more benefits to both countries and further strengthen the friendship between our peoples”, Kavelashvili noted.
