Georgian citizen Irakli Bebua, jailed by de facto authorities in Russian-occupied Abkhazia, set for release

Georgian citizen Irakli Bebua, who was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment by the de facto authorities of the Russian-occupied Abkhazia region, will be released on Sunday.
Bebua was arrested on September 30, 2020, after being accused of burning the so-called Abkhazian flag.
The so-called court later sentenced him to nine years in prison.
The de facto authorities explained that due to the absence of penitentiary institutions in the region, with only pre-trial detention centers available, one year spent in the detention center was counted as two years of imprisonment.
