Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday reaffirmed that the 2024 parliamentary elections in Georgia were free from fraud or significant manipulation, with confirmation from multiple sources, including OSCE/ODIHR and the Constitutional Court.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze highlighted that both the Constitutional Court and the Georgian Prosecutor's Office also supported the findings.
“All instances have confirmed that there was neither fraud nor any significant manipulation in these elections. This was first confirmed by the OSCE/ODIHR, which rejected all five main accusations made by the radical opposition. The Constitutional Court confirmed this, and the Georgian Prosecutor's Office has practically already confirmed this as well. Additionally, it is confirmed by the fact that everyone avoids investigation and questioning, and the reason is simple: no one has any evidence, not just of fraud, but even of any significant manipulation. Therefore, everything is as clear as day”, Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister referenced the previous elections four years ago, asserting that it was not the elections that had been falsified but the opposition's parallel counting and exit polls.
“As we proved four years ago to the radical opposition, the elections were not falsified but rather their parallel counting results were falsified. This year it was also proved that it was not the elections that were falsified, but their exit polls were falsified. Consequently, everything else is just a futile attempt to somehow bring disorder into the political process. However, unlike the events from four years ago, this year they have no resources for this”, Kobakhidze concluded.
