Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Tuesday said the Georgian state had withstood numerous pressures, which “allowed us to maintain peace”, adding that “it is important to understand that the threat of our country’s destruction has not yet disappeared”.
In his annual address to the Parliament, Kavelashvili emphasised that the Georgian state had to “walk a fine line”, enduring significant pressure and acting decisively in defence of national interests, which “ultimately enabled us to preserve peace and prevent the country’s unconditional destruction”.
He further stressed that the threat of Georgia’s destruction had not yet disappeared, as “anti-Georgian forces still remain, sparing no effort to destabilise the country”.
“Our country has repeatedly become the target of unjust attacks in recent years, especially since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Our state had to walk a fine line, withstand numerous pressures and act decisively, solely in defence of national interests, which ultimately allowed us to maintain peace and save the country from unconditional destruction”, the President told the Parliament.
“It is important to understand that the threat of the destruction of our country has not yet disappeared, anti-Georgian forces still remain, which are sparing no effort to destabilise Georgia. The threat will remain high until the war in Ukraine ends and the groups representing foreign interests in Georgia are further weakened”, he concluded.
