Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday called on all parties, including European ambassadors, to refrain from encouraging hatred and division within Georgia, stressing that such actions were harmful to the country’s social fabric.

Speaking to Georgian journalists during his visit to Budapest, Kobakhidze emphasised the need for peace and mutual respect within Georgian society.

“We urge everyone, including European ambassadors, to refrain from fueling hatred and animosity in our country. This is the last thing Georgian society needs”, the PM said.

“Unfortunately, we are witnessing encouraging gestures from the European bureaucracy that are very damaging - and at times, ambassadors are involved as well. Georgian society needs calm, and we need to find a way to put an end to this hatred”, he continued.

Kobakhidze reiterated that Georgia’s future depended on maintaining social harmony and mutual respect within the country.
