Georgian Parliament Speaker calls on British Embassy to disclose election-related funding

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday publicly called on the British Embassy to disclose detailed information about its financial support related to Georgia's 2024 parliamentary elections.
In his remarks, Papuashvili further called on anyone “who may have any information” regarding the British Embassy’s funding to share it.
“Following the British Embassy’s statement, it was revealed that the Embassy intended to fund partisan propaganda and extremist politicians whose declared goal was to disrupt [the upcoming] local elections, which reinforces suspicions that this was not the first attempt to finance propaganda and extremism”, the Speaker said.
“I call on the British Embassy to make public all funding related to the 2024 parliamentary elections - who received what and how much. I also urge anyone with relevant information to share it with me”, Papuashvili concluded.
