Georgian Ambassador highlights importance of Parliament Speaker’s official visit to Turkey

Archil Kalandia, the Georgian Ambassador to Turkey, on Tuesday emphasised that the official visit of the Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili to Ankara was of particular importance, as it would not only deepen inter-parliamentary cooperation but also enhance bilateral and multilateral relations.
In his remarks, Kalandia noted that the strategic partnership between Georgia and Turkey was developing “dynamically”.
“The official visit of Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili to Ankara is highly significant and will contribute not only to strengthening inter-parliamentary collaboration but also to advancing bilateral and multilateral relations”, the Ambassador said.
“A number of meetings are planned during the visit, including with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. This will elevate the political dialogue between the countries to an even higher level”, he continued.
Kalandia further highlighted Turkey as Georgia’s largest economic partner, and stressed that political relations continue to grow actively at the highest level.
“Turkey plays a key role in ensuring regional security, and the countries share many common interests. Trade turnover with Turkey exceeds $3 billion, and together with our Turkish partners, we aim to increase this to $5 billion”, the Ambassador concluded.
