Mikheil Kavelashvili

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Saturday delivered a speech on Police Day, expressing deep gratitude to police officers for their unwavering dedication, bravery, and service in ensuring the safety and stability of the nation.

On the occasion of Police Day, Kavelashvili addressed a gathering of Government officials, police officers, and citizens, commending the tireless efforts of Georgia’s police force.

“I greet you, Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Minister, representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, ladies and gentlemen. I especially greet our dear police officers and professionals working in the system, the heroes whose tireless work, vigilance, and dedication ensure a guaranteed, safe future for us and our children”, Kavelashvili said.

“Today is a symbolic recognition that the safety of our citizens and the establishment of order in the country rests on the tireless work of each of you, which is of decisive importance for the country’s stability and development. I express my gratitude to all those police officers who wear the uniform with dignity and are ready to sacrifice their lives without hesitation to save others. Thank you for always being on the front line of the fight, creating a safe environment for our population, protecting Georgia’s borders, and combating natural disasters. Thank you for your loyal service to the homeland!”, he continued.

He acknowledged the challenges they face, including threats from those who seek to disrupt national order, and expressed confidence that the police would continue to thwart such efforts.

“Ensuring the safety of Georgian citizens and maintaining order is the professional duty of a police officer. Unfortunately, there are cases when our honourable police officers lose their lives in the line of duty. I pay tribute to the memory of every Georgian police officer who died while performing their professional duties. Peace, maintaining order, and stability are of fundamental importance for our state. These are the foundations of the country’s development - economic progress and social well-being. This is precisely why our country’s ill-wishers target the disruption of order and stability, and consequently, the undermining of statehood. I am confident that with your tireless work and dedication, such attempts will remain as unsuccessful in the future as they have been so far”, he noted.

The President emphasised that the police’s dedication ensures a safe and prosperous future for Georgia’s citizens, describing them as the backbone of the country’s security.

“Our praiseworthy police officers. You are the people who, despite difficulties, fully carry out the duties entrusted to you by the Georgian state and the Georgian people - to maintain order in the country and ensure the safety of each of our citizens. You are the people who remain loyal to the police profession and oath until the end!”, the President said.

“I congratulate you all on the professional day of the Georgian police and police officers! I wish you to live in a united, strong, and successful Georgia. May God be the protector of our homeland and of you”, Kavelashvili concluded.
