Foreign national arrested in Tbilisi for large-scale drug possession and distribution charges

The Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Friday arrested a Ukrainian citizen on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing in especially large quantities, and facilitating the distribution of narcotic substances.
According to the Ministry, law enforcement officers seized the narcotic drug “Methadone” during a personal search of the suspect in Tbilisi.
A subsequent search of the detainee’s residence resulted in the seizure of an electronic scale and materials intended for packaging narcotic substances.
The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 260¹ of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The alleged crimes are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
