Slovak MEP says “there is no other membership candidate state” that acts as “consistently” as Georgia in EU pre-accession process

Branislav Ondruš, a Slovak Member of the European Parliament, on Thursday said there was no other EU membership candidate state that was acting as “consistently” as Georgia in its European Union pre-accession process.

In his remarks with Imedi TV, Ondruš noted that he had been working on Georgia for 10 years.

“For a whole decade, I have been leading EU expert groups cooperating with Georgian experts. Our common goal is to prepare Georgia for EU membership. We are working together on changes in legislation and state institutions, thus Georgia systematically fulfils the conditions of joining the European Union. Moreover, as I am also involved in the pre-accession processes of other countries, I have the opportunity to compare. I declare with full responsibility that there is probably no other candidate state that acts as consistently and actively as Georgia in its pre-accession process”, Ondruš said.
