Armenian President highlights strategic progress in centuries-old bilateral friendship with Georgia

Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, who is on an official visit to Georgia, on Wednesday said it was “a great pleasure” to visit a friendly country.
“Our relations once again highlight the importance of our cooperation. For the Armenian people, ties built on centuries-old history and mutual respect are especially significant. Recent high-level visits clearly demonstrate the advanced stage of our cooperation”, he noted.
“We have elevated our centuries-old friendship to the level of strategic partnership. This relationship has always been strategic, but now it has been given an official form. Today, together with my esteemed colleague, we discussed several key issues, including various fields of cooperation and the next steps forward. We also reviewed economic, cultural and educational projects”, Khachaturyan continued.
The Armenian President further added that his country was actively preparing for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and the 8th European Civil Forum.
“We look forward to Georgia’s participation. We also discussed regional matters, including the peace agreement signed on 8 August and the economic provisions aligned with Armenia’s proposed peace framework. Our cooperation, based on sovereignty, identity and mutual respect, is of particular importance”, he said.
Khachaturyan concluded by expressing confidence that establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and implementing the planned projects would turn the South Caucasus into a logistical hub.
“Ensuring prosperity is our shared responsibility. We will spare no effort to further deepen Georgian-Armenian relations”, he said.
