Natia Ioseliani, the Spokesperson for the Georgian Central Election Commission, on Friday said the election administration completed work on the unified voter list, which included 3,513,818 voters.

In her remarks, Ioseliani noted that this year, for the first time, up to 47,000 young people were given the opportunity to participate in the elections.

“The total number of voters for the October 4 local elections is 3,513,818. 3,130,348 voters will participate in the elections using electronic technologies. This year, up to 47,000 young people will be given the opportunity to participate in the elections for the first time. 60,754 voters have applied to the election administration with a request for a portable ballot box. 3,061 polling stations have been opened across the country, of which 2,284 will be held electronically, and 777 will be held in the traditional manner. Among them are 10 polling stations created in exceptional cases, which are opened in penitentiary institutions”, Ioseliani said.

“Since the announcement of the [local] elections, voters have checked the data in the unified voter list on the Central Election Commission website and mobile application 600,784 times, and through quick payment machines 9,524 times from August 25 to September 16. After the election administration received the lists from all relevant agencies, the said data was processed and divided according to electoral districts and precincts. Currently, the updated unified voter list is available to everyone on the official Central Election Commission website”, she continued.

She further emphasised that the public version of the voter lists was available to registered parties and observer organisations defined by the election legislation.

“Voters also have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the public version of the list directly at the polling stations. During the election year, five parties requested a unified voter list from the election administration at different times, which confirms that the availability of the voter list for the purpose of its verification was in accordance with the legislation and international standards”, the official noted.

Ioseliani thanked all administrative bodies for their close cooperation and coordination in the process of forming the voters unified list, as well as the voters for their activity, for verifying the data and for their contribution to the process of improving the lists.
