As part of their official visit to the United States, members of the Georgian parliamentary delegation on Tuesday held a meeting with US senator Steve Daines, a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, to discuss key aspects of bilateral cooperation.
The central focus of the meeting was the advancement of Georgian-American relations and the restoration of the strategic partnership between the two countries. Head of the delegation Nikoloz Samkharadze, the chair of the foreign relations committee of the Parliament of Georgia, reaffirmed Tbilisi’s commitment to renewing the strategic partnership and launching a new phase of deeper, mutually beneficial cooperation.
Both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening the economic dimension of bilateral ties, underscoring the need to expand trade and investment opportunities.
Regional security issues were also high on the agenda. Members of the Georgian delegation highlighted the challenges posed by the occupation of Georgian territories and discussed the broader security environment in the South Caucasus region.
The talks further addressed the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor and Georgia’s pivotal role in facilitating connectivity between Europe and Asia. Ongoing developments in the Middle East and their potential implications for regional stability were also reviewed.
