Georgian Defence Forces officials, NATO JFTC Commander review cooperation, reforms

Capabilities of the Georgian Defence Forces, ongoing reforms, and prospects for future cooperation were discussed on Saturday in a meeting between the Georgian Defence forces officials and Major General Bogdan Rycerski, the newly appointed Commander of NATO's Joint Force Training Centre.
Rycerski held discussions with Major General Zaza Chkhaidze, the Deputy Chief of the country’s Defence Forces, and Colonel Zurab Khvichia, the Commander of Training and Military Education Command.
At the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre in Krtsanisi, Colonel David Gagua, the Centre’s Commander, provided an overview of JTEC's objectives and its integral role in Georgia's defence landscape.
Discussions also focused on the upcoming NATO-Georgia 2025 exercises, set to take place this year, underscoring the strategic importance of joint training operations.
Rycerski reaffirmed NATO’s commitment to supporting JTEC’s development and the broader collaboration between the two training centres.
The visit highlighted the longstanding partnership between the Joint Training and Evaluation Centre and the Joint Force Training Centre, which began in 2017 and was formalised through a partnership agreement in 2020.
