Tamar Ioseliani, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, on Saturday said the country was taking significant steps to advance light aviation and strengthen regional air connectivity, following the opening of the Ambassador Aviation Village in the eastern Kakheti region.
Speaking at the event, Ioseliani described the new aviation complex as an important development for Kakheti and highlighted the Government’s ongoing efforts to support the sector through legislative reforms, infrastructure investments and increased private-sector participation.
“The development of light aviation is extremely important for our country, and the Government of Georgia is taking significant steps in this direction”, she said.
“Over the years, important measures have been implemented both at the legislative and practical levels, and today we are already seeing the results, with the private sector actively investing in the development of light aviation. The Government is also making substantial investments to improve domestic mobility and airport infrastructure. Most recently, a tender was announced for the construction of terminal buildings at both Telavi and Mestia airports. Light aviation will make an important contribution to these efforts, supporting both economic growth and tourism development”, Ioseliani concluded.
