Georgian Central Election Commission accuses some political actors of “ongoing attempts to falsify reality” regarding 2024 parliamentary elections
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia on Tuesday issued a statement condemning what it describes as continued attempts to distort reality and discredit the 2024 parliamentary elections and the electoral administration.
“Even one year after the October 26 elections, a campaign aimed at discrediting both the elections and the election administration continues. Certain politically motivated groups are deliberately attempting to reinforce a false narrative that the elections were allegedly rigged. Some actors are even trying to attach symbolic significance to this date, building their political activities around it and spreading distorted information to create the perception that the elections were manipulated”, the statement said.
The election administration further noted that throughout the past year, no party or individual claiming election fraud had presented any evidence to the Prosecutor’s Office or the courts to substantiate such allegations.
The statement emphasises that the 2024 parliamentary elections involved 3,111 precinct election commissions with 53,210 members, of whom 25,261 were appointed by nine political parties. Each commission consisted of 17 members, including eight representatives from opposition parties, ensuring balance and multiparty oversight. Only nine commission members expressed dissenting opinions in summary protocols prepared on election day.
“The fact that the vast majority of protocols were signed by commission members clearly indicates that no significant violations occurred on election day”, the CEC noted.
The Commission also highlighted that the election process was monitored by tens of thousands of local and international observers, as well as representatives of the media and political parties.
The OSCE/ODIHR observation mission, according to the CEC, assessed the election process positively. The organisation’s report stated that 99% of electronic voting devices functioned properly, and the results from electronic counting machines matched the manual counts. The OSCE/ODIHR also praised the CEC’s transparency policy and professional conduct, providing recommendations typical of all electoral contexts - none of which questioned the legitimacy of the elections or mentioned fraud allegations.
“The OSCE/ODIHR’s final assessment confirms that the election day was well-organised, procedurally sound, and conducted in an orderly manner. This is crucial proof that there were no substantial violations on election day”, the statement reads.
The CEC added that the October 4, 2025 local elections further confirmed the high professional standard of election administration in Georgia.
“The 2025 elections demonstrated that the electoral process in Georgia is conducted efficiently, transparently, safely, and in accordance with the law - leaving no room for manipulation of any kind”, the Commission said.
Concluding the statement, the CEC asserted that ongoing allegations of fraud represent “a deliberate attempt to distort reality and undermine public trust in the electoral process and administration”.
