Georgian PM, Abu Dhabi Ports Group Regional Executive Director discuss Middle Corridor, cooperation

Importance of the Middle Corridor transport and logistics route as well as the role of the Tbilisi Dry Port project were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who is in an official visit to Abu Dhabi, and Abdulaziz Zayed Al Shamsi, the Regional Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Ports Group.
The parties expressed their readiness to further expand cooperation, including in strategic logistics and transport projects.
The officials noted that an example of a successful partnership was the Tbilisi Dry Port, which began operating last year and, through the Middle Corridor, connected the production centers of West Asia with the consumer markets of Eastern Europe using a network of both sea and dry ports in Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Kazakhstan.
Abu Dhabi Ports Group is a 60 percent shareholder in Tbilisi Dry Port and the main partner in the new logistics center. The company has invested $16 million in the Tbilisi Dry Port project to date, with the amount set to increase as the project progresses.
Abu Dhabi Ports Group is a leading player in the maritime and logistics sector, operating world-class ports, logistics centres and industrial zones. The company operates in the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa and employs over 6,000 people.
