Georgian police arrest nine individuals on drug-related charges

Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, together with the Adjara, Imereti, and Shida Kartli Police Departments, have arrested nine individuals at different times on drug-related charges. Those detained include both Georgian and foreign nationals.

As a result of searches of the suspects’ personal belongings, vehicles, and residential premises, as well as investigative experiments conducted at locations indicated by the accused, law enforcement officers seized various types of narcotic substances prepared for sale in large and especially large quantities. The seized drugs include Alpha-PVP, Methadone, dried marijuana, and cannabis plants.

In addition, materials used for packaging narcotic substances and money allegedly obtained from drug trafficking were also seized during the investigative actions.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 260¹ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
