Georgian police seize particularly large quantity of narcotics, foreign citizen detained

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Monday announced that officers of the Tbilisi Police Department detained a citizen of the Russian Federation on charges of the illegal acquisition, storage, and facilitation of the sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances, as well as the illegal sowing and cultivation of plants containing narcotic substances.
The investigation established that the arrested individual had set up a special greenhouse in his temporary residence, where he was illegally cultivating plants containing narcotic substances in particularly large quantities.
During a search, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large quantity of dried marijuana and cannabis plants as evidence.
Materials necessary for the cultivation and packaging of narcotic substances were also confiscated.
The investigation covers illegal drug possession and trafficking, drug production in large quantities, and the illegal cultivation of narcotic plants.
The offences are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
