US IRS Criminal Investigation official praises joint effort at Georgia Prosecutor General’s Office briefing

Speaking at a briefing held at the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia, Daniel Harris, Regional Attaché of the Criminal Investigation Division of the United States Internal Revenue Service in Frankfurt, praised the successful cooperation between Georgian, international, and federal law enforcement agencies in a major investigation.
Harris emphasised that the operation demonstrates what can be achieved when dedicated and professional law enforcement officers unite around a common objective.
“Today, I have the honour of standing before you alongside the Prosecutor General’s Office, our Georgian, international, and federal law enforcement partners. IRS Criminal Investigation special agents have long been recognised for applying their expertise in financial investigations to complex cases, and today’s announcement demonstrates IRS-CI’s commitment to disrupting illicit financial flows”, he said.
“We will continue working closely with our law enforcement partners to dismantle transnational criminal organisations”, Harris added.
He further noted that the outcome of the investigation highlighted the value of international cooperation among law enforcement agencies.
“Today’s case is a perfect example of what can be achieved when dedicated and professional law enforcement officers unite around a common goal. I would like to congratulate everyone who contributed to this investigation and thank the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office for hosting today’s press conference”, Harris concluded.
A large-scale coordinated operation has been carried out in Georgia with the participation of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, the United States Secret Service, the Central Cybercrime Bureau of Poland, and the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Łódź, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
According to the statement of the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office, the special operation - prepared in cooperation with international partners and supported by Eurojust and Europol - involved around 100 law enforcement officers from the United States, Poland, and Georgia. Investigative actions were conducted across dozens of locations throughout Georgian territory.
During the operation, searches were carried out at private residences, vehicles, and workplaces. Authorities seized significant electronic evidence and documentation relevant to the investigation. In parallel, assets suspected of being acquired through money laundering were frozen, including 173 vehicles, high-value real estate properties, and funds held in bank accounts.
