Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said Georgia is ahead not only of EU membership candidate countries but also of a number of EU member states in all directions, which is the result of the country's economic progress.

Kobakhidze responded to the recent Regulatory Governance rating published by the Chandler Institute as part of the Good Government Report 2026, awarding the Georgian Government a high score for its governance framework and policies that support private sector development.

Speaking to the journalists, Kobakhidze noted that this rating was absolutely logical.

"You know that we have the most sound economic policy. Part of this is the attitude towards the private sector. Georgia is ahead in all directions and we are ahead not only of candidate countries, but also of a number of EU states in all parameters that are related to the country's economic progress. Therefore, this rating is absolutely logical”, Kobakhidze said.

According to the study, Georgia ranked 31st globally and among the top 20 countries in Europe. The country outperformed all EU candidate countries as well as 17 EU and NATO member states.
