Georgian Parliament official: Georgian delegation’s strong remarks at OSCE Assembly did not go unnoticed

Maia Bitadze, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Environment Protection and Natural Resources Committee, on Thursday said the statements of the Georgian delegation were very strong at the last session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, adding statements did not go unnoticed.
In her interview with Imedi TV, Bitadze noted that the Georgian side was speaking more openly about the double standards that are used against the country.
“Our statements were very harsh and I want to tell you that our statements did not go unnoticed. It is true that this remains in the district records and the second is that we are talking more openly about this double standard that is being used against us. It started with the European Parliament, continued with the Council of Europe and now Joe Wilson has taken the last bastion - he has put the OSCE in a very awkward position. Naturally, this scares the Parliamentary Assembly among them, because this is not what this organiსation was created for. The worst thing that happened - the OSCE itself questioned the 2024 report of the OSCE Monitoring Mission. This is absurd for international law”, she said.
Bitadze emphasised that the implementation of resolutions and declarations adopted at the Assembly was not a mandatory component, so they were being used for a hybrid war against Georgia, so that it would be an example for other states represented there, so that they did not dare and did not voice their own opinion.
She further added that EU member states were creating new groups to raise their voices against injustice, which was called the political instrumentalisation of international organisations.
“This is no longer about states being equal. This is about the fact that decisions of international organisations are being used to suppress the sovereign interests and voices of states, therefore, we will constantly react against this and we will definitely react against Joe Wilson’s threats”, she concluded.
