Georgian Parliament official: equating foul language, bullying with freedom of speech absolutely unacceptable

Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Regional Policy and Self-government Committee, on Tuesday said that putting an equality sign between foul language, bullying, the demoralisation of a person or society, and freedom of speech is absolutely unacceptable.
In his remarks, Kadagishvili argued that evil seeks to weaken society by exerting psychological pressure that suppresses a person's free will.
“Putting an equality sign between foul language, bullying, the demoralisation of a person, the demoralisation of society, freedom, and freedom of speech is absolutely unacceptable”, he said.
“Foul language is the shortest path to this, which is why today some people are applauding this foul language”, Kadagishvili concluded.
The Georgian Government’s Hate Speech Monitoring Unit continues the process of identifying probable offences and responding to them.
The department has so far identified probable offences and drawn up approximately 200 offence reports.
