Georgian PM: Geka Geladze to take up Deputy Interior Minister post

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Monday that Geka Geladze would take up the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, adding that his knowledge and experience would significantly strengthen the ministry’s team.
Kobakhidze thanked Geladze for his work and wished him success in his new position.
“Today, the head of the State Security Service, Geka Geladze, left his position. First of all, I would like to thank Geka Geladze for his work. Mr. Geka Geladze is an exceptionally conscientious person and an outstanding professional”, he said.
“During his tenure both as Minister of Internal Affairs and as head of the State Security Service, he made a significant contribution to ensuring state security and combating crime, including organised, drug-related and corruption-related crime. Mr. Geka Geladze will take up the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. With his knowledge and experience, he will significantly strengthen the team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Once again, I would like to thank Mr. Geka Geladze for his work and wish him success”, Kobakhidze concluded.
Geladze announced on Monday that he had decided to step down as head of the SSS.
He said that, following consultations with the political team, he would continue his work at another state agency.
