Georgian PM: opposition lacks resources to succeed in elections or protests

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday criticised the country’s opposition, arguing that it lacks the resources to succeed either at the ballot box or through street protests.

Speaking to reporters, Kobakhidze said opposition parties had alternated between focusing on elections and organising protests, but had failed to achieve their objectives through either strategy.

“The only interesting part of Paata Burchuladze’s statement is this: the opposition, in its current form, truly resembles a dead fish. They have no resources whatsoever, neither on the streets nor in elections. Sometimes they talk about elections, sometimes about the streets, but in reality, they have been unsuccessful in both”, he said.

Kobakhidze argued that this situation would persist, claiming the opposition lacked principles and genuine concern for the country.

“Of course, this will continue for one simple reason: they have no principles, they do not love the country, and that is precisely why they have failed and will continue to fail to achieve any success”, he concluded.
