Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, said on Thursday that October 1 marked 14 years since the Georgian people made a “historic choice” by entrusting the party with governing the country, while highlighting the “special role” played by Bidzina Ivanishvili in the political developments of 2012.
In a social media message, Kaladze said October 1 was a day that had left a special mark on Georgia’s recent history.
“It is impossible to speak about this day without highlighting the special role of Mr Bidzina Ivanishvili. The political events of October 1, 2012, involving Bidzina Ivanishvili, his decision, and the people who united around him, were accompanied by tremendous responsibility and effort”, he said.
“Over these 14 years, we have gone through a great deal - difficulties, challenges, victories and successes, and, of course, mistakes as well. But one thing has never changed: the protection of Georgia’s interests and our responsibility to our citizens”, Kaladze continued.
He added that, for him, these years represented far more than time spent in politics and government.
“They reflect daily work, efforts to maintain the trust of countless people, and the immense responsibility we bear toward them”, he said.
“Our greatest strength has always been, and will always be, the Georgian people”, Kaladze stressed.
“Thank you to every person for your trust, support, and constructive criticism. Thank you to everyone who has stood by us throughout these years and continues to work for a better future for Georgia today”, he continued.
Kaladze also congratulated the Georgian Dream party on the anniversary of October 1.
“Thank you to each and every one of you for your loyalty, dedication, and commitment to serving with responsibility. I wish you peace, good health, success, and even greater achievements for the benefit of our country and society”, he concluded.
