Georgian President: Georgia consistently acts in line with its national interests

Georgian President Mikhel Kavelashvili on Friday said that the Georgian authorities maintain a clear, transparent, and principled position in international affairs, including with regard to Ukraine.

Kavelashvili’s comments came after Georgia supported the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the situation of human rights in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

The President emphasized that Georgia had consistently acted in line with its national interests and had upheld just approaches in its foreign policy.

“Our line is clear in terms of what the Georgian government is doing. It is principled in its approach toward Ukraine as well as toward all countries”, he said.

“We uphold the principles of justice and national interests. First and foremost, we are accountable to our people, and this is difficult for those countries that cannot look their own citizens in the eye because they change their views on these issues every day”, Kavelashvili concluded.
