Georgian PM: EU bureaucracy’s attitude raises serious concerns for Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Sunday that the European Union’s recent actions and rhetoric risk undermining the image of European bureaucracy among Georgian society, particularly in light of Georgia’s declared goal of becoming a full-fledged EU member.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kobakhidze noted that tensions peaked when an EU spokesperson publicly expressed support for a protest described as a “peaceful overthrow” of the Government, effectively endorsing an act of overthrow from one of the bloc’s highest platforms.
He further described the development as deeply unfortunate and regrettable, emphasising that it raises serious concerns for Georgia.
“This is very unfortunate and regrettable for us. At a time when our declared goal is to become a full member of the European Union, such an attitude and the situation we see within the European bureaucracy naturally cause us great concern”, the PM said.
