Georgian PM says national unity around common goals helped overcome all challenges

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday emphasised that Georgia’s unity around national goals helped the country overcome challenges in 2025, while reaffirming his Government’s focus on sovereignty, anti-corruption measures, and education reform in 2026.

In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that Georgia was far more stable at the end of 2025 than it was at the end of 2024.

“One of our priorities was strengthening sovereignty, preserving independence and peace, and pursuing the right economic policies. Ultimately, the country was successful in all these respects. Around us, we are also working to strengthen peace, specifically in our region”, he said.

The Prime Minister emphasised that, just like in 2025, his Government would continue its efforts to fight corruption.

“In this regard, we faced particular, I would say, specific challenges in the past period, and this year a lot has been done to address corruption as much as possible. Of course, we will not reduce our efforts in this direction in the future. We have set an ambitious goal: we aim to be among the top three European countries in terms of low levels of corruption”, he continued.

He also noted that education reform played a key role in overcoming the challenges facing Georgia.

“Education reform plays a crucial role in addressing the challenges our country faces, and naturally, successfully completing this reform will be one of the main tasks we will continue to focus on in the coming year”, Kobakhidze concluded.
