Foreign media praises Georgia's performance at Euro 2024

The international media outlets on Monday praised the Georgian national football team's debut performance at the ongoing European Championship in Germany as the team exited the competition after their 4:1 defeat to Spain in the round of 16.

The match between Georgia and Spain has garnered significant attention from foreign media outlets.

Publications such as France 24, Eurosport, and various football clubs have positively highlighted Georgia's performance and the historic nature of their participation in the tournament.

France 24 recognised the Georgian national team’s impressive debut, noting the challenges they faced against a strong Spanish team.

Eurosport provided an in-depth analysis of the match, detailing the initial struggles and subsequent efforts of the Georgian team.

Football clubs associated with Georgian players expressed pride and encouragement for their achievements in the tournament.

Levante Football Club noted “Georgia's historic result with Giorgi Kochorashvili. You have created history”.

Watford said “a tournament to be proud of. Well done, Giorgi [Chakvetadze]”.

Valencia CF noted “this concludes Giorgi Mamardashvili's participation in the European Championship. Congratulations to our goalkeeper for the great tournament held and for having made history with his country”.

BBC described Georgia's performance as exceeding expectations, noting the team's respect earned from rival teams and the fans' long applause after the final whistle and emphasised that the Georgian national team had made their fans proud with their debut at the main European tournament.
