Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the country’s economic policy was based on reforms that had created a modern and competitive business environment, saying that Georgia’s economy continued to demonstrate sustainable growth and would remain a reliable partner for companies seeking a stable, open and competitive environment for long-term operations.

In his speech at the Georgia-Turkmenistan Business Forum, Kobakhidze noted that Georgia's economy grew by 7.8 percent in January-May 2026, while the International Monetary Fund projected average annual economic growth of around 5.4 percent between 2026 and 2031.

“International assessments and economic indicators confirm that Georgia remains a trusted destination for investors. Between 2021 and 2025, the country attracted approximately USD 8.7 billion in foreign direct investment. At the same time, Georgia's extensive network of free trade agreements provides Georgian companies with access to a market of approximately 2.3 billion consumers”, he said.

“It is noteworthy that Turkmen businesses are already actively operating in Georgia. Today, numerous companies with Turkmen capital are engaged in sectors including transport and logistics, construction, agriculture and real estate. This experience provides a solid foundation for further cooperation”, Kobakhidze noted.

He said that there was significant potential for expanding our partnership in energy, renewable energy, the digital economy, information technologies, tourism, agriculture and manufacturing.

“Cooperation in these sectors will enable us to create new economic value, increase investment, promote innovation and open new opportunities for Georgian and Turkmen companies. I would like to reiterate that Georgia is and will remain a reliable partner for every company seeking a stable, open and competitive environment for long-term business operations”, he said.

“I wish you a productive and successful forum. I am confident that today's meeting will help establish new partnerships, generate promising initiatives and further strengthen cooperation between the business communities of our two countries”, Kobakhidze concluded.
