Georgian Deputy Economy Minister says Kazakhstan’s interest in Georgia transit pipeline project could strengthen energy sector

Inga Pkhaladze, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Monday said Kazakhstan's government was interested in participating in a project involving oil pipelines passing through Georgia, a move that could increase state budget revenues, enhance the country’s geopolitical importance, and make Georgia's energy sector more attractive.
In her remarks, Pkhaladze emphasised that several strategically important agreements were signed between Georgia and Azerbaijan in Baku in the spring of 2026.
“The implementation of these agreements will ensure the rational utilisation of our country's energy supply, energy security, and transit potential. One of the most important and successful agreements within this energy package was the decision regarding the loading and operation of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline. This project will strengthen Georgia's position as part of the Middle Corridor and as an energy hub”, she concluded.
