Georgia rises to second place in Europe for economic readiness in ND-GAIN 2026 report

The Notre Dame Global Adaptation Initiative (ND-GAIN) has published its 2026 Country Index, assessing countries’ vulnerability and resilience to global challenges, as well as their readiness to improve sustainability and adapt to future risks.
The latest rankings place South Korea, Singapore, Estonia, and Georgia among the world’s top four countries for economic readiness.
Conducted by the University of Notre Dame, the study is designed to help governments, businesses, and communities prioritize investments and strengthen their capacity to respond effectively to emerging global challenges.
The findings are regularly published by the European Commission, which notes that the research center works to improve global understanding of adaptation through knowledge, products, and services that support public and private action, as well as investments in vulnerable communities.
The 2026 report analyzed conditions in 192 countries worldwide.
According to the previous edition of the report published by the European Commission, Georgia ranked fourth globally and third in Europe for economic readiness to address global challenges, behind Norway and Denmark. Under the updated 2026 assessment, Georgia has advanced to second place in Europe while maintaining its fourth-place position worldwide.
According to the study, the assessment of economic readiness for global challenges is based on thematic research conducted by the World Bank, as well as business environment and business readiness indicators.
