Georgian PM highlights ruling party’s “strong team” as guarantee of country's economic development

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday highlighted the role of the ruling Georgian Dream party’s “strong” team in the development of the country’s economy.
In his speech at the presentation of the election program of the ruling party ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26, Kobakhidze noted that the main factor for the economic growth was “efficient” economic policy and “efficient” legislation that was promoting the business development in the country.
“Another factor [for the economic growth] is the freedom of business - you remember the situation in our country regarding business before 2012 - business racketeering, terror, was one of the main signatures of the former [United National Movement] Government, and this situation has changed drastically [now]. Today, the business community is completely free, which, of course, affects the growth of the economy. Peace and stability is another factor. The fact that we have managed to maintain peace is certainly a leading factor in ensuring economic growth”, Kobakhidze said.
The Government head further added that in terms of political stability “we had some difficulties, but even on the backdrop of these difficulties, we managed to seriously strengthen the economy, and in the coming years, after we further stabilise the political situation in our country, we will grow our economy even more and faster”.
“Effective management is another factor, of course, only politics, only freedom is not enough for the economy to develop, nor is peace alone enough. We have a very strong team. This team is the main guarantee of continuous care for the development of the country's economy and they will continue to work actively in the future in order to maintain rapid economic progress”, he concluded.
