Georgian Parliament Committee Chair, CoE Sec Gen review role of cultural diplomacy on EU integration path

The role of cultural diplomacy in Georgia's integration into the European Union was discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Eliso Bolkvadze, the Chair of the Culture Committee of the Georgian Parliament, and Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
The meeting focused on the notion of culture as a distinctive avenue for fostering peace, exploring the development and planning of various programs in alignment with this objective.
The officials also highlighted support of Georgia's sovereignty and the success achieved by Georgia on the European integration path.
“Today, we engaged in a highly stimulating discussion with Mrs. Marija Burić. Our conversation revolved around Georgia's European integration processes and the significant role of Georgian culture in this paramount journey. We underscored the importance of their support in this regard. Additionally, we delved into the notion of culture as a distinctive avenue for fostering peace, exploring the development and planning of various programs in alignment with this objective”, Bolkvadze said.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to the Council of Europe, Tamar Taliashvili, who at the same time has been elected as the Chair of the Rapporteur Group on Education, Culture, Sport, Youth and Environment.
“At the meeting with the Secretary General of the European Council, several important messages were voiced, among them, we talked about the support of Georgia's sovereignty and the success achieved by Georgia on the European integration path”, Taliashvili noted.
Bolkvadze will hold the meetings with Marja Ruotanen, Director General of Democracy and Human Dignity at the Council of Europe, and Matjaž Gruden, Director for Democracy as a part of her visit to Strasbourg.
The meetings will cover the significance of providing quality art education in fostering the development of democracy.
