Georgian President meets Iranian counterpart in Tehran

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Friday met with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian during his visit to Tehran.
At the meeting, Kavelashvili once again expressed his condolences over the tragic events that recently took place in Iran and paid tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives.
The two leaders discussed the friendly neighborly relations between Georgia and Iran, as well as the current agenda of bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was given to the importance of promoting peace and stability in the region.
Both sides underscored that cooperation between Georgia and Iran is based on mutual respect, recognition of each other’s sovereignty, and consideration of national interests.
Kavelashvili thanked President Pezeshkian for Iran’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
As part of his visit to Tehran, President Kavelashvili is scheduled to attend the funeral ceremony of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei later today. Leaders from countries across the region, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and other nations around the world, are expected to participate in the ceremony.
