Georgian President awards Order of Golden Fleece to Uzbek counterpart

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Thursday thanked his Uzbek counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, for Uzbekistan’s unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and policy of non-recognition regarding Russian-occupied territories. During the meeting, President Kavelashvili awarded him the Order of the Golden Fleece, a prestigious state honor bestowed upon foreign citizens for their outstanding contributions to the Georgian state.
The two leaders also reviewed the bilateral agenda between Georgia and Uzbekistan. Particular attention was given to the upcoming signing of a Strategic Partnership Agreement, which is expected to elevate relations between the two nations to a new level.
The discussion focused on deepening economic ties, exploring prospects for the development of the Middle Corridor, and strengthening coordination within international forums.
In this context, the leaders highlighted the opportunities this strategic partnership would create, both for bilateral relations and for enhanced connectivity between the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
Kavelashvili emphasized that Georgia views Uzbekistan as “a reliable and friendly partner”, noting that the two nations are united by mutual respect, shared interests, and an unwavering commitment to deepening their cooperation.
