Irakli Mezurnishvili

Irakli Mezurnishvili, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, highlighted the deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership between Georgia and China, emphasising historical ties, shared values, and ongoing cultural collaborations between the two nations.

In an interview with China Global Television Network, Mezurnishvili noted that Georgia and China were sharing many cultural similarities, particularly in their strong family values and deep respect for traditions.

“Two years ago, I had the idea of creating a documentary about the friendship between China and Georgia. China was one of the first countries to recognise Georgia’s independence, establish diplomatic relations, and open an embassy in Tbilisi, laying the foundation for deeper ties between our nations. Our countries share many similarities”, Mezurnishvili said.

The MP further highlighted the traditions that united the two countries and his efforts to document this friendship through a film.

“Georgia has a rich history as well. We have many common traditions and values, such as love for family and respect for elders. I tried to reflect all of this in my film, which I believe turned out to be very interesting and emotional. The film’s premiere was already held in Tbilisi, and now we are working on translating it into Chinese and organising a premiere in China”, Mezurnishvili concluded.
