Georgia to join three declarations on space cooperation, Foreign Minister says

Speaking at the first international summit on space issues in Paris on Thursday, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili said Georgia would join three declarations to be adopted at the summit, describing them as a starting point for global cooperation on space issues.
She stressed the importance of international cooperation in the space sector for European and global security, as well as economic development.
“Technologies are developing rapidly, and, of course, formats and platforms for cooperation in this area are very important”, Botchorishvili said.
“This is particularly important for small countries, which naturally do not have the same capabilities in the space sector as larger countries. Therefore, it is important that Georgia is part of these discussions. Georgia has been invited precisely to the platform that the President of France is creating today”, she added.
“Three declarations will be adopted here today. Georgia will join all three, and at the global level, this represents a starting point for cooperation on space issues”, Botchorishvili concluded.
The first international summit on space issues is currently underway in Paris, with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze attending the event.
On Wednesday, Kobakhidze attended an official reception at the Élysée Palace hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in honor of leaders participating in the summit.
Around 2,000 delegates from 120 countries are attending the event, including Kobakhidze and the Georgian delegation, who were personally invited to Paris by Macron.
The large-scale summit, held under Macron’s patronage with Germany as a co-initiator, focuses on issues related to science, research, security and defense.
