FM says Georgia remains “committed” to implementing reforms, pursuing Euro-Atlantic integration

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday highlighted the importance of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s visit to Georgia.

In his remarks, Darchiashvili noted that Georgia was an “important and valuable” partner of NATO in the South Caucasus region.

“The arrival of the Secretary General of NATO to Georgia today means the dynamics developed at the highest level in our bilateral relations”, Darchiashvili noted.

The Minister highlighted Georgia's ongoing cooperation and coordination with NATO partners, both individually and bilaterally, emphasising that Georgia remained “committed” to implementing reforms and pursuing Euro-Atlantic integration, enshrined as the constitutional norm and the main foreign policy priority of the country.

“Euro-Atlantic integration is the constitutional norm and the main priority and cornerstone of Georgia's foreign policy, and accordingly, this dynamic continues”, Darchiashvili continued.

Darchiashvili expressed his gratitude for NATO's “unwavering” support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and specifically acknowledged Stoltenberg’s important statements in support of Georgia.

The top Georgian diplomat noted the significance of Stoltenberg's visit in the context of recent engagements between Georgia and NATO, mentioning Georgian PM Irakli Kobakhidze's visit to Brussels, where he participated in the discussions with Stoltenberg at NATO headquarters.

"Today is a very important day, I believe that today's visit will add an important new impetus to NATO-Georgia bilateral relations”, Darchiashvili concluded.
