Georgian FM: Black Sea region and South Caucasus vital to European security

Speaking at the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece, Georgia's vice prime minister and minister of foreign affairs Maka Botchorishvili on Friday emphasised the critical importance of the Black Sea region and the South Caucasus for European security, noting that modern security is no longer limited to military components and requires a broader, multidimensional approach.
“Today, security is no longer defined solely by military strength and capabilities. Understanding security must necessarily include economic resilience, connectivity, and sustainable development. If we look at the map, we can see a subtle but critically important line for Europe that runs through the Black Sea region and the South Caucasus”, the minister said.
“This is a region vital for European security, and this is how we view it, because we consider ourselves part of the European security architecture. This is an important factor that must be taken into account when discussing the creation of European security”, Botchorishvili concluded.
