Georgia supports any international initiative that is based on peaceful development, dialogue, and respect for international law, said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili in an interview with China’s CGTN.
Responding to a question about China’s four global initiatives and their role in promoting global security and prosperity, Papuashvili said such initiatives are important when they are grounded in dialogue, international norms and the peaceful resolution of disputes
“We generally support any initiative which is grounded and based on peaceful development of the world, and this is that, that the dialogue, the international rules and law, that peaceful settlement of all disputes, and other principles which should be shared between the countries. We are supporters of any kind of initiatives which are on, on the basis of these principles”, he noted.
He added that Georgia, as a small country, was largely dependent on international law and the principle that all states respect it, stressing the importance of peaceful resolution of disputes.
“Look, Georgia as a small country, small I mean, meaning the influence, the possibility to influence international developments, we are heavily dependent on international law, dependent on that, that every country respects international law, that every country respects the basic principle that all disputes should be settled within a peaceful manner”, Papuashvili concluded.
