Georgia’s State Security Service denies claims of Russian secure communication networks on Georgian territory

Following reports circulated yesterday across various media platforms and by several individual activists, Georgia’s State Security Service (SSG) has denied allegations that, according to Ukrainian intelligence materials, networks of Russia’s Armed Forces’ special secure communication terminals exist on Georgian territory.
In its official statement, the SSG noted that none of the media outlets or activists spreading the claim have contacted the agency for verification.
According to the SSG, no such information has been received from Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service either.
“Likewise, we have not received any similar information from Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service. In its publicly released statement, the Ukrainian side indicated the presence of such networks near its own frontline and on the African continent. However, the location depicted in the photo published alongside their statement created room for misinterpretation, leading some to incorrectly suggest that the information referred to Georgia”, the SSG said.
The Service added that it is proactively seeking to determine how materials inconsistent with Ukraine’s official statement were disseminated, enabling certain groups in Georgia to launch what it described as a false and anti-state campaign.
