We are supporting our friendly country Armenia and the Armenian people to the maximum extent, said on Wednesday Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze in an interview with Imedi TV.
Kobakhidze was answering a question regarding what impression the attitude of certain forces in Brussels towards Georgia and Armenia leaves on him.
“As for the comparison with Armenia, this is a bit of an awkward topic for us because we are neighbours, we have very friendly relations, and a strategic partnership. Therefore, it is incorrect for us to compare ourselves to Armenia. We will not get into this, of course, it would be wrong of us. However, I will generally assess the attempts we see here from the local agents and their foreign patrons to somehow pit us against Armenia, including through these comparisons. This will not achieve any success from any angle, in any direction. We are supporting our friendly country Armenia and the Armenian people to the maximum extent. This is the only thing that can be said regarding Armenia. I want to thank the prime minister of Armenia, who has an outstanding attitude toward Georgia, and this is expressed in friendly relations, including directly between the governments. He even went so far as to say directly that talking about Armenia’s European integration without Georgia was unimaginable. You also remember what statement followed this from one of the high-ranking European officials, who said that Armenia is the shortest route connecting Central Asia to Europe. It seems that along with economic stagnation and other “blessings”, European bureaucrats are not particularly strong in geography lessons either”, the Prime Minister stated.
