Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Saturday said that the Middle Corridor has evolved beyond a transport route into a broader geoeconomic space connecting Europe, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and the East, emphasising that peace and stability remain its core foundation.

In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that the Middle Corridor represents a dynamic space where trade, energy, digital connectivity, innovation, and shared interests intersect.

“The Middle Corridor is no longer just a transport route. It is a new geoeconomic space that connects Europe, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and the East. This is a space where trade, energy, digital connectivity, innovation, shared ideas, and interests intersect. Georgia’s goal is to be not only a geographical part of this process but also its reliable, predictable, and responsible partner. Let us not forget that no economic project can succeed if it is not based on peace and security”, she said.

The Foreign Minister emphasised that Georgia values peace deeply due to its experience with occupation and that peace and stability were central to its domestic and foreign policy.

“A country whose territory is 20% occupied by Russia speaks about peace more than others not because it is weak, but because it understands the value of peace better than anyone else. That is why ensuring peace and stability is one of the main objectives of Georgia’s domestic and foreign policy. It is precisely the guarantee of peace, macroeconomic stability, and consistent economic policy that has enabled Georgia in recent years to become one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe and the wider region, with an average growth rate of around 9%”, Botchorishvili noted.

She added that Georgia was actively developing modern infrastructure, including ports, railways, roads, energy, and digital projects to enhance regional competitiveness.

“High economic growth, record tourism, increasing exports, growing foreign investment, and a business-friendly environment confirm that stability translates into economic success. We are building modern infrastructure, developing ports, railway and road connections, as well as energy and digital projects that make the entire region more competitive”, Botchorishvili concluded.
