Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Thursday criticised the recent OSCE Parliamentary Assembly resolution on Georgia, claiming it reflected narratives supplied by the country’s “radical opposition” and arguing that Georgian citizens were indifferent to “commissioned” resolutions adopted by international institutions.
Machavariani’s comments came in response to the critical resolution on Georgia adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which was initiated by the US Congressman Joe Wilson.
“Absolutely every resolution contains the same text supplied by the radicals, especially when it is initiated by Joe Wilson, who is a disgraceful individual. Everyone knows he receives money from the radical opposition. He was selling inauguration tickets and now he is selling flags. It is beyond my understanding why anyone would pay this person”, he noted.
The Georgian delegation on Wednesday refused to participate in the vote at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and walked out of the session in protest.
Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, said that certain provisions of the revised declaration deliberately distort Georgia’s political reality and misrepresent the facts, thereby undermining the country’s national interests.
