Georgian President: Georgia can achieve its own “Didgori” through unity, wisdom and hard work

The Battle of Didgori was not merely one of Georgia’s greatest military victories but the culmination of years of preparation, exceptional strategic thinking and iron discipline, said on Wednesday Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili in his address at the Didgoroba event.
Kavelashvili stressed that Didgoroba represents a major celebration of national dignity, military spirit and state strength.
“Congratulations on Didgoroba - a celebration of our national dignity, military spirit, and state strength! Didgori is, above all, about overcoming our own weaknesses and strengthening our character. It is a powerful example of how a worthy state should conduct its policies and shape public life so that the nation can rise above itself and achieve historic victories”, the President said.
Kavelashvili said Georgia faces the same challenge in the 21st century, requiring constant vigilance, inner strength and pragmatic thinking to achieve the country’s reunification and become a strong and truly sovereign state.
“Even today, in the 21st century, we must follow this same path - a path that requires constant vigilance, inner strength, and pragmatic thinking so that Georgia can ultimately reunify, grow stronger, and become a truly sovereign state”, he continued.
The President emphasised that achieving a great victory requires strategic patience, unwavering faith in the future, and constant readiness.
“Wisdom and vigilance should become the guiding principles of our daily lives, and every state reform should be conceived, planned and implemented accordingly. There is no other way to reach our own Didgori. We need daily perseverance, tireless work and continuous self-improvement. We should seek spiritual and material nourishment not only in achieving results, but also in the process of daily struggle and constant development”, he added.
The President expressed confidence that through unity, strategic wisdom and hard work, Georgia would ultimately achieve its own “Didgori” - a united, peaceful and strong country.
Didgoroba commemorates the Battle of Didgori, fought on August 12, 1121, when the army of King David IV, also known as David the Builder, defeated a much larger Seljuk force near Tbilisi.
The victory is widely regarded as a turning point in Georgia’s history and is celebrated annually as a symbol of national unity, strength and statehood.
