Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday highlighted Georgia's independence and national identity as supreme values - “without them, nothing else has any worth”.
In his address at an event dedicated to the country’s Independence Day, Kobakhidze noted that over the past two centuries, Georgia had never been as independent as it was today.
“Today, I congratulate every citizen of Georgia, as well as our compatriots living abroad. I also salute our generals, soldiers, and the conscripts who pledged their loyalty to Georgia today. Happy Independence Day to all!” the PM said.
“Today especially, we must remind ourselves that over the past two centuries, Georgia has never been as independent as it is today. Our independence and identity are values of the highest order - without them, nothing has value. That’s why protecting them must be our daily concern. And as the head of the Georgian Government, I promise that it will be so”, Kobakhidze continued.
He further stressed that the struggle for Georgia’s independence and freedom was a continuous process, adding it is still ongoing today.
“Since regaining its statehood, Georgia has been walking a biblical, 40-year path, like Moses, toward the Promised Land”, the PM noted.
“For Georgia, the Promised Land means realizing two of our greatest national dreams: First, a strong economy where no Georgian family lives in poverty; And second, a Georgia that is united both physically and spiritually - a Georgia with Abkhazia and Samachablo, a country where people are united by love for one another”, Kobakhidze concluded.
